A merchant-ship or transport, mentioned only in Cicero's orations against Verres (iv. 8.17). It is properly an adjective, as Cicero speaks of navis cybaea, and describes it as most beautiful and richly adorned like a trireme (v. 17.44). The word perhaps comes from the Greek κύπη, a kind of ship mentioned by Hesychius.
