Fontus

The Roman god of springs, son of Ianus and Iuturna. He had an altar in Rome on the Ianiculum. A special festival, the Fontinalia, was held in his honour on the 13th October, at which garlands were thrown into the springs, and laid round the wells (Varr. L. L. vi. 22).
