Gaurus Mons

or Gaurānus Mons. A volcanic range of mountains in Campania, between Cumae and Neapolis, in the neighbourhood of Puteoli, producing good wine, and memorable for the defeat of the Samnites by M. Valerius Corvus, B.C. 340 (Livy, vii. 32, 33).
