A city of Cisalpine Gaul between the mouths of the Padus and the Athesis, and still called Adria. It was of Greek or Etruscan origin.


A city in Picenum about five miles from the Adriatic Sea. It is now called Atri. It was one of the eighteen Latin colonies which remained faithful to Rome at the time of Hannibal's invasion (Polyb. iii. 88).
