Ιάμνεια, Ιαμνία). In the Old Testament Jabneel, Jabneh; a considerable city of Palestine, between Diospolis and Azotus, near the coast, with a good harbour. After the destruction of Jerusalem it became the seat of the Sanhedrim and of a celebrated school of Jewish learning.
