Ἴασσος and Ἴασος). A city of Asia Minor, situated on a small island near the coast of Caria, and giving to the adjacent bay the name of Sinus Iassicus. It was a rich and flourishing city, and the inhabitants were chiefly occupied with fisheries along the adjacent coasts (Livy, xxxii. 33; xxxvii. 17).
