Interamna

The name of several towns in Italy, so called from their lying between two streams.


1.

(Terni), in Umbria, situated on the Nar, and surrounded by a canal flowing into this river, whence its inhabitants were called Interamnates Nartes. It was the birthplace of the historian Tacitus.


2.

In Latium, at the junction of the Casinus with the Liris, whence its inhabitants were called Interamnates Lirinates.
