Iuvāvum

or Iuvavia. Now Salzburg; a town in Noricum, on the river Iuvavus (Isonta, Salzach). It was founded by Hadrian, and made the residence of the Roman provincial governor. It was destroyed by the Heruli in the fifth century, but afterwards rebuilt.
