Lancia

The name of two towns in Lusitania, distinguished by the appellations of Oppidana and Transcudana. The first was on the frontiers of the Lusitani, near the sources of the river Munda (Mondego). It is now La Guarda. The latter lay to the east of the former, and is now Ciudad Rodrigo. It was called Transcudana, because it lay beyond the Cuda.
