Marsus, Domitius

A Roman poet of the Augustan Age, who wrote a collection of epigrams (Cicuta), a treatise on the use of wit in oratory (De Urbanitate), and in epic (Amazonis). He died about B.C. 4. He is mentioned several times by Martial (e. g. iv. 29, 7; and vii. 29, 7). The few fragments of his works that remain will be found in the Fragmenta Pöet. Lat. of Bährens, 346 (Leipzig, 1886).
