Nota Censoria

The punishment inflicted by the Roman censors who by a mark of disapproval branded dishonourable or discreditable acts, such as unjustifiable divorce, ill treatment of one's family, excessive luxury and extravagance of life, the pursuit of disgraceful gain, legacy hunting, etc. The terms Notatio and Animadversio Censoria are also used.
