A people of Britain, occupying what would correspond at the present day to the northern
portion of Wales, together with the island of Anglesey (
Hist. xii. 33
). It was probably owing to the nature of their country
and to the vicinity of Deva, now Chester, where a whole Roman legion was quartered, that the
Romans had so few towns and stations among the Ordovices. Mediomanium was their capital, and
was probably situated at May wood or Meifad, in Montgomeryshire.
