Phaestus

A town in the southern part of Crete, near Gortyna, twenty stadia from the sea, with a port-town Matala, said to have been built by Phaestus, son of Heracles (Pausan. ii. 6, 7). It was the birthplace of Epimenides.

A town of Thessaly.
