Now Rotigliano or Rugge; a town of the Peucetii in Apulia, on the road from Brundusium to
Venusia, was originally a Greek colony, and afterwards a Roman municipium. Rudiae is
celebrated as the birthplace of Ennius (Sil. Ital. xii. 393).
