Syphax

Σύφαξ). A king of the Massaesylians, the westernmost tribe of the Numidians. His history is related in the life of his contemporary and rival, Masinissa. Syphax was taken prisoner by Masinissa, B.C. 203, and was sent by Scipio, under the charge of Laelius, to Rome, where he died shortly after.
