Sarmătae

（Σαρμάται) or Sauromătae (Σαυρομάται). A people of Asia, dwelling on the northeast of the Palus Maeotis (Sea of Azov), east of the river Tanaïs (Don), which separated them from the Scythians of Europe. See Sarmatia.
