Teutoburgiensis Saltus

A range of hills in Germany, extending from Osnabrück to Paderborn (the Teutoburger Wald or Lippische Wald). It is celebrated on account of the defeat and destruction there of Varus and three Roman legions by the Germans under Arminius, A.D. 9. See Arminius; Germania; Varus.
