Minyae

（Μινύαι). An ancient Greek race, originally dwelling in Thessaly. Their ancient hero, Minyas, is said to have migrated from Thessaly into the north of Boeotia, and there to have established the empire of the Minyae, with the capital of Orchomenus. (See Orchomenus.) As the greater part of the Argonauts were descended from the Minyae, they are themselves called Minyae. The Minyae founded a colony in Lemnos, called Minyae, whence they proceeded to Elis Triphylia, and to the island of Thera.
