Palaephătus
(
Παλαίφατος).
1.
A Greek author who followed the Peripatetic philosophy. He composed in

under the title
On Incredible Tales (
Περὶ
Ἀπίστων). In former times it was a favourite school-book. It has been edited by
Westermann in his
Mythographi (Brunswick, 1843).
2.
An Egyptian or Athenian Greek, a rhetorician, whose best-known work called
Troica (
Τρωι:κά) is frequently mentioned by
the ancient grammarians.
