ALLEX or ALLIX (ἄλλιξ, ἄλληξ), a Thessalian name for a garment corresponding apparently to the Greek χλάμυς (cf. Zonaras, Suidas, and Etym. M. s. v.). Hesychius too, s. v. ἄλλικα, gives this explanation, though, s. v. ἄλλιξ, he translates the word by χιτὼν χειριδωτός, i.e. a tunic with sleeves. The connexion of this word with ALICULA is doubtful.
