BULGA

BULGA a leathern bag or pouch, carried on the arm, and used as a purse (Lucil. and Varro ap. Non. p. 78; Festus, s.v. who says that the word is Gallic). For a similar bag hung on the arm of a husbandman and containing seed (πήρα σπερμοφόρος, Anth. P. 6.104), see Mus. Borbonico, 12.47.
