CHIRAMAX´IUM

CHIRAMAX´IUM (χειράμαξα, χειραμάξιον), any wheeled carriage drawn by the hand. Its use may have varied between a “perambulator” for children and a “Bath chair” for invalids: the only classical passage (Petron. 28) leaves this point uncertain.
