MAZAEI

Eth. MAZAEI (Eth. Μαζαῖοι), a Pannonian tribe, occupying the southernmost part of Pannonia, on the frontiers of Dalmatia, whence Dio Cassius (55.32) calls them a Dalmatian people. They were conquered and severely treated by Germanicus. (Strab. vii. p.314; Plin. Nat. 3.26; Ptol. 2.16.8.)
