STRENUS (στρῆνος: Eth. Στρήνοις), a town of Crete, which Stephanus of Byzantium (s. v.) mentions on the authority of Herodian (others read Herodotus), but no further notice is found of it either in Herodotus or any other author. [E.B.J]
