SUCCI

Eth. SUCCI or SUCCORUM ANGUSTIAE, the principal pass of Mount Haemus in Thrace, between Philippopolis and Serdica, with a town of the same name. (Amm. Marc. 21.10.2, 22.2.2, 26.10.4.) It is called Σοῦκις by Sozomenus (2.22), and Σουσάκεες by Nicephorus (ix 13). Now the pass of Ssulu Derbend or Demir Kapi (Comp. V. Hammer, Gesch. des Osman. Reichs, i. p. 175.)
