VOMANUS (Vomano), a river of Picenum, which rises in the lofty group of the Apennines now known as the Gran Sasso d'Italia, and flows into the Adriatic, after passing within a few miles to the N. of the city of Adria (Atri). Its name is mentioned by Pliny only (3.13.18).
