BARE´A

BARE´A (Βαρεία, Ptol. 2.4.8; Baria, Geogr. Rav. 4.42: Vera), a town of the Bastuli, on the coast of Spain, in the extreme SE., reckoned as belonging to the province of Baetica, though within the boundaries of Tarraconensis. (Plin. Nat. 3.3. s. 4, adscriptum Baeticae Barea; Florez, Esp. S. 10.4, 9.4; coins, Sestini, p. 35.)
