But few, if any, of the remains of the ancient town are to be traced at the present day. From inscriptions we learn that at some period of the Roman domination a cohort of the Frisians was stationed at Mancunium; and that the sixth legion, or one of its divisions was there, probably on the occasion of some journey into the north.
