[72] χὡκ δρυμοῖο = καὶ ἐκ, 'the lion in the thicket'; the double crasis as in 109 χὥδωνις. The Scholiast has a delightful variant ἂν ἔκλαυσε, and note: 'There were no lions in Sicily. If there had been they would have wept!'
