βιάζω and βιάω (βίη), pres. 2 pl. βιάζετε, perf. βεβίηκα, mid. and pass. pres. βιάζεται, βιόωνται, opt. βιῴατο, ipf. βιάζετο, βιόωντο, mid. fut. βιήσομαι, aor. (βιήσατο, part. βιησάμενος: force, constrain, mid., overpower, treat with violence; met., ἄχος βεβίηκεν Ἀχαιούς, ‘overwhelmed,’ Il. 10.145; pass. βιάζεσθαι βελέεσσιν, Il. 11.576; ὄνος παρ᾽ ἄρουραν ἰὼν ἐβιήσατο παῖδας, ‘forces his way in spite of the boys,’ Il. 11.558 ; νῶι ἐβιήσατο μισθόν, ‘forcibly withheld from us’ (two accusatives as w. a verb of depriving), Il. 21.451 ; ψεύδεσσι βιησάμενος, ‘overreaching,’ Il. 23.576.
