ἰάλλω , aor. ἴηλα, inf. ἰῆλαι: send, mostly implying quick motion toward some definite point; freq. ἐπ᾽ ὀνείατα χεῖρας ἰάλλειν, ‘apply’ the hands to viands, Il. 9.91, etc.; ἑτάροις ἐπὶ (adv.) χεῖρας ἴαλλεν, ‘flung out’ his arms to them, Od. 9.288 ; ὀιστὸν ἀπὸ νευρῆφιν ἴαλλεν | Ἕκτορος ἀντικρυ?, Il. 8.300; ἐπὶ (adv.) δεσμὸν ἴηλον, ‘whip’ on a knot, Od. 8.443, cf. 497; met., ἀτι_μι?ῃσιν ἰάλλειν, ‘assail’ as with missiles, Od. 13.142.
