ὀπώρη (ὥρη): late summer (or early autumn), harvest-tide; the season extended from the rising of Sirius (end of July) to the setting of the Pleiades, thus corresponding nearly to our ‘dogdays,’ τεθαλυῖα, ‘luxuriant,’ ‘exuberant,’ fruit-time, Od. 11.192.
