Table of Contents:
ἄν, with ἐναντιοῦσθαι, oblique for ἂν with the imperfect indicative, ‘that he would be opposing,’ as he is. τἀ πρᾶτα, the subjection of Orchomenus and Coronea to Thebes. ἀπεγίγνωσκεν, ‘were throwing over,’ transitive, as in Dem. 3. 33 ἀπογνόντας (sc. αὐτά). κἀκεῖνα=καὶ τὰ πρῶτα. ἐκ πάντων, parallel to ἀφ᾽ ὧν νῦν ποιεῖ as συντάττων is to ποιήσας. So ἐκ πάντων must be taken with δῆλός ἐστι. πάνθ᾽ ἃ is Foertsch's excellent conjecture for the πάντα of S, which affords a very awkward sentence. Other MSS. read ὅτι πάντα, but with an ugly hiatus and a clumsy structure.
