αὑτὸν...ἐπιβουλεύοντα. The normal construction would be αὐτὸς ἐπιβουλεύων, as the subject is identical with that of οἶδε; but the accusative of the reflexive is sometimes preferred. The reason here seems to be the symmetry of the two accusatives.

εὖ φρονεῖν, ‘to be sensible,’ rather than ‘loyal’ to Greece.

ποιήσας, sc. τι, the same ‘something’ as in the euphemistic πείσεσθαί τι, i.e. some harm. ποιεῖν and πάσχειν frequently correspond as active and passive.

πρότερος, redundant after φθάσῃ; cf. Phil. I. 14 μὴ πρότερον προλαμβάνετε.
