[588] ἐν δέ: as v. 578.

προθυμίησι πεποιθώς: cf. v. 792, (“Αἰνείας”) “λέων ὥς ἀλκὶ πεποιθώς Ε” 299. For the long penult of “προθυμίῃσι”, cf. v. 573; see § 41 b. The pl. is used because of the many occasions on which his zeal had prompted him to act.
