[128] ἀθάνατοι: in appos. with “θεοί”, and added here for the sake of contrast with “πρώτη κτλ”.

πρώγη: first of all, chiefly. Cf.πάμπρωτα” 97. Athena comes to the aid of Menelaus because she favors the Greeks, and had not intended that the leader should be seriously harmed.

ἀγελείη: the giver of booty (“ληίς”). A standing epithet of Athena as goddess of war. cf. “Ε 765, Ζ 269, Ἀθηναίῃ ληίτιδι Κ” 460.
