[267] τὸ πρῶτον: first, once. Cf.ἐξ οὗ δὴ τὰ πρῶτα διαστήτην Α” 6.

ὑπέστην (“ὑφίστημι”): equiv. to “ὑπεσχόμην”, which the heroic verse would not admit. cf. “ὑπέσχετο καὶ κατένευσεν ω” 335, for the third person; “ὑπόσχεο καὶ κατάνευσον Α” 514.

κατένευσα: a nod was the solemn confirmation of a promise. See on 1.514.
