[95] Τρώεσσι: “in the eyes of the Trojans.” cf. “Β 285, γάρ κέ σφι μάλα μέγα κῦδος ἄροιο Ι 303, τῷ με ἔα κλέος ἐσθλὸν ἐνὶ Τρώεσσιν ἀρέσθαι Ρ 16, νῦν δὴ νῶι ἔολπα” ...| “οἴσεσθαι μέγα κῦδος Ἀχαιοῖσι προτὶ νῆας Χ” 216 f. H. 771. Or, the dative may here be the ‘agent,’ with the passive idea which is implied in the verse.
