ἀλλά: but rather.

καὶ αὔτως: even as I am, i.e. on foot, without chariot. cf. “εὖ νυ καὶ ἡμεῖς ἴδμεν, τοι κλυτὰ τεύχἐ ἔχονται: ἀλλ᾽ αὔτως” (i.e. without arms) “ἐπὶ τάφρον ἰὼν Τρώεσσι φάνηθι Σ” 197 f. See § 24 h.
