A freq. epithet of Odysseus is “πολύτλας. — μαίμησε”: raged, sc. with eagerness to display his courage. cf. “μαιμώωσα” 561.671 = “δ 117, ω” 235; cf. “Α 193, Θ 169, υ” 10.
