[711] 711-909. Hera and Athena descend to the field of battle, with the approval of Zeus, in order to aid the Achaeans. Ares is wounded. All the gods return to Olympus.

711-791. The descent of Hera and Athena. This is Athena's fourth descent during the action of the Iliad, and she comes again at 7.19.

τοὺς δέ: i.e. Ares and Hector.
