[842] 842-863. Ares wounded by Athena and Diomed.

Περίφαντα: a ‘homonym’ is a herald of Anchises, 17.323.

ἐξενάριζεν: was stripping off the armor (“ἔναρα, Ζ” 68, 480), sc. when Athena and Diomed came up. — Nowhere else in Homer does a divinity slay a mortal. Elsewhere the gods satisfy themselves with encouraging their friends and dismaying their enemies.
