ἔπεϊ κτλ.: Ares does not utter distinctly, but rather assumes as evident, the thought implied in contrast to 877 f., that Athena had been disobedient.

ἔπεϊ, ἔργῳ: for the pair, cf. “ ἔπει ὤνησας κραδίην Διὸς ἠὲ καὶ ἔργῳ Α” 395.
