χρυσήνιος: gold-gleaming, with reference to hunting-equipment and dress.

ἔκτα: cf. “ἔκτανε” 204. § 35.—“Laodamia died suddenly and quietly.” Artemis sent sudden and peaceful death to women, as Apollo to men. cf. 203 f., 428, “ἐπεί σε λέοντα γυναιξὶν Ζεὺς θῆκεν, καὶ ἔδωκε κατακτάμεν ἥν κ᾽ ἐθέλῃσθα Φ” 483 f. (Hera's words to Artemis).
