εἴποι: opt. of wish.

πατρὸς κτλ.: a verbal quotation of the desired praise.

ὅδε: deictic.

πολλόν: originally ‘acc. of extent,’ and then adverbial. “πολλῷ” might have been used.—“May many a one say of him as he returns from the war.”
