Nerva, Cocceius
1. M.
Cocceius Nerva, was consul with L. Gellius Poplicola, B. C. 36. (
D. C. 48.54.)
He is probably the Cocceius who brought about the reconciliation between M. Antonius and Caesar Octavianus,B. C. 40, though this Cocceius is called Lucius by Appian (
App. BC 5.60, &c.); and also the Cocceius mentioned by Horace (
Sat. 1.5. 28, &c.).
He is sometimes considered to be the grandfather of the emperor Nerva, and consequently the same person who died in the time of Tiberius, A. D. 33, which is not possible.
