Ompha'lion

（Ὀμφαλίων), painter, was originally the slave, and afterwards the disciple, of Nicias, the son of Nicomedes. He painted the walls of the temple of Messene with figures of personages celebrated in the mythological legends of Messenia. (Paus. 4.31.9. s. 11, 12.)

In the article on Soranus, we find: "at this present time (1848)" and this date seems to reflect the dates of works cited. 1873 - probably the printing date.
