Trito'nis

Τριτωνίς).

1. A nymph of lake Tritonis in Libya, who according to an ancient tradition was the mother of Athena by Poseidon. (Hdt. 4.180; Pind. P. 4.20.) By Amphithemis she became the mother of Nasamon and Caphaurus. (Apollon. 4.1495.)
