Tu'ccia

a Vestal Virgin, accused of incest, appealed to the goddess to prove her innocence, and had power given to her to carry a sieve fill of water from the Tiber to the temple. (V. Max. 8.1. absol. 5; Plin. Nat. 28.2; Dionys. A. R. 2.69; Augustin. de Civ. Dei, 10.16.) This miracle is commemorated on an ancient gem, of which an engraving is given in the Dict. of Antiq. p. 1191a, 2d ed.
