All the officers who held the rank of General in the Confederate States Army are shown here, excepting Robert E. Lee, whose portrait has already appeared in this volume, and Albert Sidney Johnston, whose portrait appears among those killed in battle.

Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard Beauregard received the Surrender of the First Federal Citadel—Fort Sumter; fought in Defense of the Last Confederate Citadel-the City of Petersburg.

Joseph Eggleston Johnston Johnston commanded the First and the Last Great Aggressive Movements of Confederate Armies—Bull Run and Bentonville.
